Are You a Chicken or a Pig?
a stewardship message ...
You have probably heard the story of the chicken and the pig before, in one form or another. The chicken suggests that the two involve themselves in some breakfast venture involving bacon and eggs. The pig replies the chicken need only make a simple contribution: she lays the eggs and continues with her life. However, for the pig, it is total sacrifice, as the pig must be slaughtered to make the bacon. The chicken is casually involved. The pig is committed.

As members of Centenary UMC, we can make five commitments that will change our lives and change the church:
1. Worship weekly: if not sick or out of town.
2. Grow spiritually: especially through participating in small groups.
3. Serve the church and the poor.
4. Grow toward tithing: giving in proportion to your income as a spiritual discipline.
5. Share your faith.
God calls us to be committed Christians working for God’s Kingdom. Please prayerfully consider the commitments above, and whether you are casually involved or truly committed to God’s Kingdom and church.
